BACKGROUND
The Kanyege coffee is grown in rich volcanic soils in the highlands of the Congo Nile in Nyamasheke District, 4.5 hours drive from Kigali. It experiences a moderate tropical climate with four seasons of which: two are cold and two are dry.
Typical to Nyamasheke the area is characterised by beautiful highlands. Coffee trees dominate the area which couple with favourable growing conditions and explains why Nyamasheke district hosts 50 of the 300 stations in the country.
The Kanyege station started operations in 2018 offering three different processing types. Fully Washed, Natural, and Honey Process. After hand picking and floating for defects, the coffee is processed and dried on raised beds.
