Our story

Rosso stands for “Coffee With Character”. We take great care in choosing our coffee, roasting it, and ensuring each of our three distinct espresso blends and range of Single Origins has distinct flavours and notes, meaning theres a coffee for every individual palete and use case. 

Our team is headed up by owner Ramez, who threw away the corporate life to create an accessible and vibrant coffee brand; thus Rosso Coffee was born! As a Melburnian, Ramez wanted to follow his love of coffee and bring people together.

It all started with a wholesale coffee roastery in Tullamarine, and expanded into two Melbourne cafes, a flagship roastery and dining concept, a thriving online store, and an iconic cold brew and coffee liqueur in Boston Black and Black Geisha.

We take pride in serving our customers with some of the world’s finest specialty coffee. Our roasting team meticulously selects each coffee for optimal flavour, body, and cleanliness, then roasts it to the perfect profile that showcases its character.

We prioritise quality and partner with ethical coffee suppliers who treat farmers fairly, selecting coffees from diverse origins and producers worldwide with a minimum score of 80 on the SCA cupping protocol. We ensure fair compensation for farmers and safe, sustainable conditions.

Melbourne's coffee scene has its roots in the post-World War II influx of Italian and Greek immigrants. Now, the coffee scene in Melbourne has evolved into a true art form with the rise of the "third wave" in the 2000s. Third wave coffee encouraged innovation, through new baristas evolving alternative methods of grinding, roasting, and brewing. We're proud that Melbournians have lifted the act of making coffee into a true art form.
