GUIDE: How to make a perfect Cold Brew Coffee

Mason Jar full of cold brew made with the Bohemian Blend

Cold brew coffee is a daily summer essential for many coffee lovers. An iced coffee can set you back as much as $9 per serving(!) at some cafes. However, most coffee drinkers are unaware of how easy it is to make your own cold brew coffee at home, for a fraction of the cost, and best of all? It’s really easy!.

Here’s our summer essential cold brew recipe at home featuring our The Bohemian blend (however any coffee will work!).

We're using Rosso Coffee the Bohemian blend for our cold brew today

We're using the Bohemian blend (however any coffee will work!). If you'd like it pre ground for cold brew - just request it with your order in the notes at checkout!

What you’ll need:

1 x 250g bag The Bohemian (or your choice of coffee) - ground extra coarse. (If you're not sure what this means - you can order any of our coffees pre ground for cold brew - just check out as per usual and add "Grind for cold brew" in the notes at checkout!)
1 x 1L mason jar or vessel of your choice
1 x Cheesecloth or a paper filter

For this recipe, we will be bulk brewing for the next few hot days ahead!

Step one: Choosing the right coffee.

Depending on if you’re a coffee purist or an iced latte lover, it is important to choose the right coffee that’ll give you maximum sweetness and a rich body to cut through milk.

Whilst you can use whichever coffee blend you have on hand - We're using our Bohemian blend which is brewed to work perfectly as both black coffee and milk coffee.

Step two: Preparing your brew.

Grab yourself a mason jar or any 1L vessel you can find (that fits into your fridge!) door and dose 100 grams of coarsely ground coffee.

Step three: Let’s brew this!

Pour in 1L of cold filtered water and stir around the ground coffee to make sure it is fully submerged and soaked in the water.

Place your cheesecloth over the top of the mason jar, secure it tightly with a rubber band and place the vessel in the fridge for 12-24 hours.

Step four: It’s time.

After your brew is completed, pour out your brew through the cheesecloth filter into a separate vessel or jug and keep in the fridge for and consume within the next 3-4 days for maximum flavour and freshness.

To dispose of your coffee grounds, we recommend keeping your coffee grounds to compost and use as fertilizer for your plants and crops at home.

Step five: Serve up.

We’re all done! It really is as easy as that. Enjoy your cold brew coffee over ice or paired with milk or any of your favourite syrups/flavourings.

With The Bohemian Blend, you will taste jammy sweetness and a rich chocolatey body - what else would you rather wake up with or cool down on a summer’s afternoon? Enjoy!
